Leadership Texas Hold 'em Style eBook Andrew Harvey Raymond Foster
I've never played a game of poker but the title of the book intrigued me to read it. I was amazed at how the author's educated their readers in this book by using poker scenarios to point out what it takes to be a great leader. The author's work is about leadership and it's very thorough. They write a lot of case and point scenarios to express the subjects pertaining to leadership.I liked how each chapter had a poker card listed and underneath it the subject of the chapter was written with a word or a few words that let the reader know what the chapter was going to be about.
If your looking for clear, thorough, descriptive education regarding leadership, I highly recommend that you read, Leadership, Texas Hold'em Style.

Leadership Texas Hold 'em Style eBook Andrew Harvey Raymond Foster Reviews
I want to weigh in on this book written by Raymond Foster and his cohort Andrew Harvey. I returned to school last year after 30 years of working and raising my family. In the process I have bought a plethora of books in the last year or so. I bought this book as I studied leadership from a an academic point view as well as using it in my profession. I have enjoyed a great career in law enforcement and in recent years I find myself in positions of leadership, both at work and within our police union. With the advent of the current economic crash leadership skills are in huge demand. I can't believe I waited to read this book until now. I needed to read this book years ago as I found myself leading people through these times. But hey, better late than never!
The authors of this book are incredibly educated and insightful in their perceptions and philosophies on leadership. They are not writing from theory, they are writing from experience, adding to the credibility factor of this book! The poker analogies used in this book are awesome and very to the point. They take the topic of leadership and deliver their thoughts in a down to earth fashion that anyone can comprehend and apply. This book is so easy to read but yet makes one ponder and consider some very insightful principles. They both have had success in their lives and know from which they speak. I would recommend this book to anyone considering taking a leadership role. It is a meat and potato approach that should be mandatory reading for every leadership course.
Buy it, read it, apply it, and live it! Great book!
This is a very good easy read! The chapters are short for people like me who are easily distracted and even though I am not a poke player I could understand the analogies that were throughout the book. I wished more books were like this, I would probably take up reading more!

This book is really great. The best thing about the book personally is the connection that the author's use to personal situations that they experienced. I found reading it to be extremely easy, and the fact that each chapter is no more than 5 pages allowed me to read everything without getting bored and skipping to another chapter. I had to use this book to write a paper and honestly it was pretty easy because, no matter what principle I picked I feel like they were all equally important.
The only con I have (I guess this was on my part) was having to go to the website to read more about it. They do an excellent job without the website, so when they constantly refer to read more on it I ignored it. Overall I think this is a great book because the quotes they use I can honestly relate to and it flows smoothly from chapter to chapter. Both authors know exactly what they are talking about and maybe if our bosses read this we would not hate them as much. This helped me understand leadership and I can effectively encourage this to any person looking to read it.
This is a really nice book with practical examples of leadership issues, and different options for resolving the situations. Written by a respected Law Enforcement college textbook author who is a retired LAPD officer, and his co-writer, the book is not just for officers. The advice can apply to many situations of leadership in all walks of life. Nice, short chapters make for easy reading. You can read a little and let the rest wait for when you're ready to pick up the book, cherry-pick subjects through chapters or ... if you're really into leadership, maybe you'd read the whole thing ( maybe ) .
Andrew Harvey and Raymond Foster have crafted an exceptionally outstanding learning resource--it is far more than a 'book' if the reader accesses all that is available through their generous and dynamic leadership website--for leaders of every experience level. "Leadership Texas Hold'em Style" is a great read for the young leader starting out with its wealth of ideas and thought-provoking real-world situations. For the very same reason the book has as much or more significance for seasoned folks in positions of responsibility who simply need to continue to improve their level of expertise and excellence.
As I read the book and was underlining idea after idea, I was struck by how critical the information contained in it is for young people. I immediately thought of my oldest son who is set to graduate from college and how valuable the knowledge included herein is. Clearly he will receive a copy from his dad--his own copy since I will continue to refer to the gems identified as I go back to it again and again. Similarly I can think of any number of friends operating at all levels of business who would benefit by the dozens of ideas and practical issues covered.
"Leadership Texas Hold'em Style" is, as mentioned above, the kind of resource, very much like the Bible, something to return to again and again. Be prepared to read it through once highlighting as you go. Then go back and drill down into those portions most germane to your own situation. Check out the incredibly dynamic supplemental website the authors have created and continue to update. This 'book' truly is a superior investment for everyone who is interested in improving his or her impact/positive contribution to any organization--be it family or business or governmental. Harvey and Foster deliver incredible value. Well done!!!
